Top Hotspots to visit this year in the UK with Rent-a-Car from Pulman

Are you thinking of a staycation in the UK this summer to beat the holiday rush abroad? Let us help you get there with Rent-a-Car from Pulman…

Summer holidays in the UK are still the ‘in thing’ for 2022 and we can see why. With major passport delays and staff shortages in certain UK airports, you want to start your holiday off with no stress and no worries. That’s why this year, we’re all about UK summer holidays and why would you want to go anywhere else when we have stunning beaches, cities and countryside only a short drive from our homes.

Here at Pulman Group, we’ve rounded up our favourite spots across the UK which start from the moment you set off from your home to exploring the hotspot area, take a look below.

Northumberland Coast

Only a short drive up the road, the Northumberland Coast offers multiple quaint towns and attractions for families, couples and even your pets to visit. Some of the highlight areas we recommend are Embleton Bay, Beadnell, Bamburgh, Holy Island and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Did you know: Lloyds Bank TV advert which was aired from August 2020 to 2021 filmed scenes on Beadnell beach in Northumberland! The finishing shots of the adverts see the horses galloping in the shallow North Sea on this beach with runners by their side.

Lake District

So close to home in the North East, but far enough away to make each visit more special than the last, the Lake District offers fun for all of the family. From town visits like Windemere, Ambleside and Grasmere (to try the famous fresh gingerbread), through to every hikers dream reaching the summit of Scafell Pike on a clear day, there’s something for everyone.

There’s plenty of camping sites if you want to go back to basics with the family too. Don’t be worried about fitting all of your camping gear in your car though. At Pulman Group we offer Accessories4Hire including Roof Bars, Roof Boxes and Bike Holders

Did you know: Hardknott Pass which links central Lake District to Western Cumbria has been described as one of Britain's "most outrageous roads" by The Guardian! With areas of the 13 mile long road reaching a 33% gradient, this road is not for the faint hearted, which is why many tourists tend to opt for the hour long detour!

Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Scotland is a must-see location thanks to its beautiful scenery. There’s fun for all of the family from thrill seekers who love outdoor, indoor and water-based activities to multiple eating establishments and shopping areas. Plus, if you time your trip right with the weather, it’s an added bonus too!

The drive up itself is beautiful in every sense driving between mountains and winding roads through forestry. Unfortunately, you can’t fully drive around Loch Lomond, the western shore is easily accessible from the A82 whereas most of the eastern shore is only accessible by boat or foot. We’d recommend towing a caravan (if you can) and pitching up along caravan spots along the route.

If you need a tow bar or need assistance fitting an existing tow bar contact us!

Did you know: Loch Lomond is the largest expanse of fresh water in the UK at 22.6 miles long. The deepest part of the loch (North side) is 625ft (that’s two Big Bens, one on top of the other with a little room to spare)!

The Cotswolds

The furthest away UK hotspot for us to recommend in this blog but worth the 250 mile journey (from Durham) is the Cotswolds. The Cotswolds covers nearly 8,000 square miles and runs through five counties so we’d recommend making the most of your road trip while you’re down there; maybe stop off for a couple of nights in each county!

Did you know: An 80 mile road trip which starts in Chipping Campden has been voted in the top 10 British road trips of all time by The Daily Telegraph. The route is very scenic and takes you through all of the major attractions hotspots the Cotswolds has to offer including Stow-on-the-Wold, the Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water, Northleach and Bibury.
