The Volkswagen Polo is entering a new chapter. Now fully electric, the new ID. Polo combines the familiar practicality of Volkswagen’s popular hatchback with an electric range of up to 281 miles WLTP, rapid charging and a more spacious interior.
Before the standard range becomes available on 10 September 2026, Volkswagen is offering a limited selection of ID. Polo Launch Edition models. These early versions build on the regular Life and Style trims with additional comfort and technology.
So, what does each Launch Edition include, and how much more does it cost?

The standard ID. Polo Life already covers many of the features most drivers will use every day. Its equipment includes Adaptive Cruise Control, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, wireless smartphone charging and App-Connect.
Choosing the Life Launch Edition adds:
These additions are particularly useful during colder months. Heated seats and a heated steering wheel can make winter journeys more comfortable without waiting for the entire cabin to warm up, while two-zone climate control allows the driver and front passenger to choose separate temperature settings.
The Life Launch Edition costs £500 more than the equivalent standard Life model.
The regular Style trim builds on Life with a more distinctive exterior and additional comfort equipment. Highlights include IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, illuminated Volkswagen logos and light strips, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and Keyless Access.
The Style Launch Edition adds:
This is the more substantial of the two Launch Edition upgrades. The panoramic roof helps the cabin feel lighter, while the massage seats could make longer journeys more relaxing.
The extra assistance technology is also useful in everyday driving. Area View provides a clearer picture of the car’s surroundings when manoeuvring, while Park Assist Pro can help with parking in tighter spaces. Connected Travel Assist supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking within the system’s operating limits.
At £1,250 more than the equivalent standard Style, the Launch Edition combines several features that would normally be associated with larger or more expensive cars.
The Life Launch Edition is offered with two battery choices.
The 37kWh version has 133PS and an electric range of up to 206 miles WLTP. It supports DC charging at up to 90kW, with a 10–80% charge taking approximately 23 minutes under suitable conditions.
The larger 52kWh battery produces 211PS and offers a range of up to 281 miles WLTP. Its maximum DC charging rate increases to 105kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in approximately 24 minutes under suitable conditions.
The Style Launch Edition is available with the 52kWh battery and 211PS motor.
Whichever version you choose, the ID. Polo provides up to 441 litres of boot space—more than the petrol-powered Polo and even the Volkswagen Golf. That should make it practical for much more than short journeys around town.
The Life Launch Edition is likely to appeal to drivers who want a few useful comfort upgrades without moving to the more expensive Style trim. At £500 above the equivalent Life model, its heated seats, heated steering wheel and two-zone climate control make it a straightforward upgrade.
The Style Launch Edition is aimed at those looking for more technology and a more premium cabin. Its panoramic roof, massage seats and expanded driver-assistance package make the differences easier to notice, although the price increase is also greater.
The important detail is timing: Launch Edition models form part of Volkswagen’s initial pre-order package and are only available to order before 10 September 2026. From that date, the standard Life and Style versions will join the range with slightly reduced equipment and lower starting prices.
