Volkswagen ID. Buzz in orange What Car? Awards 2023 blog

VOLKSWAGEN OFF TO A WINNING START IN 2023

If there’s one award that car manufacturers want to receive above all others, it’s being named as What Car? magazine’s Car of the Year.

And this year’s accolade goes to the stunning Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

Nothing looks like the ID. Buzz, Its launch in the UK was one of the most anticipated in generations.

And it hasn’t disappointed.

Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car? said…“There’s so much affection for the retro design of the ID. Buzz that Volkswagen could easily have penny-pinched on the engineering and still sold as many as it could make. But instead, it has clearly thrown everything at the car, with this resulting in something that combines the practicality of an MPV with the comfort and refinement of a premium SUV and the low running costs of an electric vehicle.
"In short, it moves the game on more than any other model launched in the past 12 months, so it had to be the What Car? Car of the Year."

The ID. Buzz is based on the ID. 3 / ID. 4 / ID. 5 so yes, it’s a 5-seat car, but the big advantage is that because of the shape, you have acres of space and the boot is huge. In other words, it’s a retro take on the SUV.

If you like the idea of the ID. 3 hatch or ID. 4 crossover or ID. 5 coupé but would like a lot more room, then the ID. Buzz is for you. And of course nothing else looks like it.

Fancy a test drive? No problem….the award-winning ID. Buzz is waiting for you at your local Pulman Volkswagen dealer in Durham and Sunderland.

And the What Car? awards don’t end there.

The latest Volkswagen T-Roc was named Small SUV of the Year and the Volkswagen Golf R was commended as ‘Best Hot Hatch for everyday usability.’

The T-Roc was Volkswagen’s best-selling SUV in the UK for the second year running in 2022, with over 18,000 registrations.

Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, said: "Ever since it was launched, the Volkswagen T-Roc has been one of the best small SUVs on sale, thanks to its cosseting ride, superb refinement and generous passenger and boot space. However, updates made in 2022 moved it to the very top of the class, with the revised trim levels offering even better value."

The biggest change was inside the T-Roc. There is a marked move upmarket in terms of quality of trim and fitments. This is a seriously premium product.

As for the Volkswagen Golf R, it continues to go from strength to strength. It has all of the attributes of a hot hatch combining great performance with renowned Golf versatility.

And yes, just like with the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, you can check out the T-Roc sand Golf R at your local Pulman Volkswagen dealership.
