Pulman Group Appoint New Managing Director​

Pulman Group have appointed their new Managing Director, Michael Lines, who has been promoted from Operations Director.

Michael has been a part of the team since July 2008 when he joined as a Brand Manager at Pulman Volkswagen Durham managing Aftersales. As the sites expanded, so did Michael’s job role as he took on the position of Operations Director in 2021.

His beginnings with Pulman started two years previously as he met owner Mike Pulman at an auction. This led to the pair discussing plans for Pulman’s Sunderland Volkswagen site which really appealed to Michael at the time.

He was excited to join a true family business with already deep roots in the North East. Michael commented this about his starting journey into Pulman Group...

“I met Mike at a pub, shook hands and the rest is history.”

When speaking about his fondest experiences at Pulman Group, Michael had this to say about the atmosphere of the company

“It’s the people. It’s one big family...

...I came from a motor trade background where I’ve worked for a family business and then a PLC. Coming back to working for a family business where everyone is pulling in the same direction is brilliant.”

When asked if Michael could remember his first day at Pulman Group, he gave this fantastic recount of the day

“100% yes, it was a great day! I’d finished at my old place of work and walked straight into a meeting in our conference room. It was a planning meeting as we were preparing to take on the next business. I remember everything about it.”

Michael’s new role as Managing Director will see him use his wealth of knowledge in the motor trade industry to develop Pulman Group’s existing culture which he already holds incredible passion for.

He will also be supported by other Directors and Managers to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business and help take Pulman Group to the next level into the future.

When talking about his new role, Michael said
